I told you a lot about our stay in Oman but I didn’t tell you anything about the hotel where we stayed when we were in the mountains of Jebel Akhdar. Mountains located 3 hours from the capital Muscat, Al Jabal Al Akhdar, also called Jebel Akhdar, has its highest point at 3,075 m altitude, the Djebel Shams. We took the road from Nizwa and after 1 hour and half of car, we arrived in this little paradise at the top of a mountain at 2000 m of altitude. A fan of adventure or in search of lush greenery and freshness in the heart of Oman? See you at Alila Jabal Akhdar.

At an altitude of 2,000 meters, the Alila Jabal Akhdar is the paradise for all adventurers, hikers, nature lovers, outdoor yoga and those looking for a bit of fresh air in Oman. Fresh air in Oman? Yes it’s possible. We left Nizwa with 107 F° displayed on the screen of our car. Arrived at the hotel, we were open windows with 73 F°. A real pleasure ! The hotel is very easy to find, with the application “Here we go” (a GPS that works even offline with card download). After a little problem in our reservation (my little fish brain sometimes has trouble keeping up with bookings), we were able to enjoy the place at 100%.

There are several types of rooms within the hotel:
  • Mountain View Suite
  • Horizon View Suite
  • Ridge View Suite
  • Jabal Terrace
  • Loft Suite
  • Jabal Villa

We had the chance to sleep in a Horizon View Suite, a suite composed of an entrance, a dressing room, the bedroom and living room, a bathroom with bathtub and shower, a toilet, a terrace and access to the view of the mountain and the canyon. You have the choice between a double bed or two single beds and the suite is 52 m2, enough to offer you a lot of space during your stay. With an oriental touch and some natural details, the decoration of the room is soothing. What I regret? Stayed only one night 🙂 It was really magical.

Price : from 580 $/ night (breakfast, dinner and activities included).

There are 2 dining areas in the hotel, the Juniper Restaurant and the Rose Lounge (more than a bar than a restaurant). The Juniper dishes are very good and elaborate. Dinner as breakfast, you will have a wide choice of products. If I had only one remark to make, it could be about intolerance. They aren’t indicated on the menu and it’s sometimes difficult to find something without lactose (in many restaurants elsewhere). Anyway, I chose some delicious dishes and I wasn’t disappointed. That was so good!

This hotel gives you an access to a wide range of activities:

  • Hiking in the mountains looking for butterflies of the region,
  • Yoga class at sunrise on top of the mountain,
  • The ruins of Tanuf,
  • Access to caves and canyon,
  • Via Ferrata within the hotel for lovers of climbing.
