Let’s talk about rosé! Here is a short retrospective of the Couleur Tavel 2019 festival. Today, it has become a must for the summer in the Rhone Valley, the Couleur Tavel festival has once again become a delight. And I can tell you that I am so happy for it! I tell it all in detail a little further down.

Saturday, July 20, Lyon, 1:45 pm. We leave the city to go to Tavel, a charming village located a few minutes from Avignon. The traffic jams slow us down but we end up arriving around 6pm. Stack on time for the tasting “Complétement Toque” in the courtyard of the castle Genestière. The food preparations of the Grands Chefs of the association Gard aux Chefs are delicious! A glass of rosé, a little piece of food. Repeat the process 4 times and you’re done. Michelin-starred chefs Vincent Croizard, Sébastien Rath, Serge and Maxime Chenet and Christophe Ducros took the challenge to perfection.

No time to waste, heading to the walled gardens of the Condamine and the wine growers’ stalls. It was the second time that I participated in a wine festival but I must say that it particularly pleased me. The gardens are welcoming and the locals too! We taste, we savor and above all … we have fun! Some musicians make the show since the inauguration of the festival at 5 pm. By the way, somebody told me I had missed a homemade ice cream!

To know :
The tasting pack is 10 €. It gives you access to all the stands of the festival to taste the different wines.

At the end of the day, the sun goes down and we head towards the Town Hall Square. Here you will find small food trucks super nice (order as soon as possible to avoid the wait). There are tables, good music and a very warm atmosphere. This year, we moved our body on JUDE AND CO in the first part and the DJs FRENCH COCOTTE, accompanied by the saxophonist FONKY SAX, from 10 pm.

If you are wine lovers, especially rosé, I recommend 100% to go to Tavel next year for the 8th edition of the Couleur Tavel festival. But be aware that throughout the year, you can enjoy #RDVTerroirs. The vineyards of the Rhone Valley are super cool to organize events. In addition to enjoying a good glass of wine, you have the opportunity to discover incredible places and cutting-edge cultural destinations.

Here is the agenda of the Rhone Valley, if you want more information.

I always give you some tips on the destinations I visit. And I must say that going to the Tavel Color Festival, I knew that I was not going to stop there. On Sunday, we visited Tavel. I was itching to know a little more about the Gard region.

Here is what I propose to do in one day:

  • Morning: discovery of Avignon and stroll in the city center (Palais des Papes and Pont d’Avignon not to be missed)
  • Lunch: picnic on the edge of the vineyards on the Route des rosés
  • Afternoon: La Roque-Sur-Sèze and Sautadet waterfalls for the sunset (less crowded). To know: it is forbidden to swin in the waterfalls of Sautadet. Even if you meet more than one hundred swimmers on your way, please respect the rules and places. This site is protected and despite the recommendations, tourists leave a lot of waste on their way and especially … in the water! Respect nature when traveling!

Where to sleep around Tavel ?

Here are some ideas for hotels / accommodation for the Couleur Tavel festival. I advise you to go ahead. The event is held at the same time as the famous Avignon festival and the accommodations are often booked in advance by the tourists.

Ibis Avignon Center Pont de l’Europe: this is the hotel where we stayed. Near the city center (on foot), the night (Saturday) is 160 € for a double room in the middle of July. Breakfast is included. There are parking spaces around the hotel, you will not have a hard time parking.

Auberge de Tavel: a super cute hotel in Tavel. Old school of the village, it was then transformed into inn and restaurant. Booking recommended, there are only 10 rooms. And the pool … the pool … the pool please 🙂 Aie Aie Aie.

Jardin de Bacchus is the most romantic B & B in Tavel. The rooms all have a small kitchenette and you have a view of the vineyards and forests nearby. A little piece of paradise!

And here are some other ideas for Accommodation for the Couleur Tavel Festival! Let me know if you have questions, I can answer them in the comments with great pleasure!
